7th Grade Still-Lifes

The 7th graders actually do 2 still-life sketches. The first one is in regular value and the second one is in colored pencil. Enjoy a few of the best!

6th Grade Still-Lifes

The sixth graders finished their still-lifes before Christmas break and I am finally getting time to post them. The kids could choose any still-life to draw and were encouraged to use at least 6 values when shading. I think the results turned out quite nicely!

Gingerbread Houses

The Independent Study students had their Christmas party on Dec. 21st. We had a great time and created some really cool "Gingerbread" houses (made with graham crackers). No students take this project as serious as my Independent kids!! We had a great time!

Christmas Workshop

This year I decided to invite the staff and their families to my classroom for a Christmas card making workshop. It was a great time! We used old wallpaper books, as well as the scrap box (every art teacher has one that is overflowing). While working, we listened to Christmas music on Pandora and sipped on Hot Chocolate while nibbling on cookies. It was such a nice time! I'm hoping to make it an annual event!

Christmas Joy!!

I'm so excited about this holiday season! Maybe it has something to do with having a little one around this year? Regardless, I thought I would post a few of my favorite holiday images/memories.

Niswonger Performing Arts Center

I happen to teach in a building that has a wonderful performing arts center attached to it. This facility attracts acts of all kinds and puts on outstanding performances! I'm not sure that the kids know how lucky they are to be in such an unusual setting for their education. I'm on a really fun committee that gets the pleasure of decorating the PAC for each season. Of course, Christmas is the holiday we go all out for. Pictured are some images from the PAC at Christmas time. If you get a chance to check it out in person, its so worth the trip!!

Still-Lifes?

Is it "Still-Lifes" or Still-Lives"...I've always wondered. Regardless, they are up and the drawing unit at each grade level has begun!!! Just thought I'd post some pics of this trimester's Still-Lifes. Kids can choose which one they want to draw, as well as the angel they would like to draw from.
